Good Night, States Ringtones on Locally Toned
Good Night, States recently spent an evening recording ringtones for Locally Toned.
Locally Toned is a Pittsburgh-based original ringtone/public art project that seeks to capture sounds/tones/etc that Pittsburghers feel are sweet sounds that they wish to share. These tones/sounds are posted on the project’s site along with a description of who created the tone and why they chose to share it with the public.
Since there are five members of Good Night, States, Locally Toned has chosen to make this week “Good Night, States Week” on the blog. There will be a new post each day (monday-friday) that features a ringtone created by each member of the band.
The List of Featured Tones:
- (Monday) Dan’s AT&T Feedback tone.
- (Tuesday) Joe’s “Joe Delay” tone.
- (Wednesday) Megan’s Synth tones.
- (Thursday) Trevor’s “Greasy Fuzzy Funk” tone.
- (Friday) Steve’s “Embrace the Destruction” tone.
Stay tuned for more tones each day! The tones are free to download here. Enjoy!

Club Cafe (Pittsburgh) - Tomorrow!
Good day, everyone!
We’re playing Club Cafe tomorrow night (Thursday, Nov. 13th)! We’re super excited to play another Pittsburgh show and we’re even more excited to be sharing the stage with Boca Chica & Army of Me. We’ve updated the details for this and other shows, so go to the SHOWS page and check out the updates. And visit the other bands’ websites while you’re at it!
In addition to playing at Club Cafe tomorrow, we will be finishing up writing and recording November’s Internet Single (to be released sometime around Thanksgiving). The following week (11/19-11/22), we will be making a jaunt up the east coast, hitting Brooklyn, Boston, & Philly. If you live in any of those locales, we’d love to see you!
Wow, the sheer amount that we will be accomplishing in the next two weeks just hit me. I think I may have to go sleep it off.
P.S. In case you’ve forgotten, we recently released an internet single, “The Odd and The Even.” You can download it for free (or a price of your choosing) on the MUSIC page!

Summer Vacation (of sorts)
Due to the fact that most people are vacationing this time of year, we have decided to take a vacation, too. We’re taking a 2 month break from our internet releases in order to catch our breath and allow you, the listener, to catch up with all that we’ve released thus far. Don’t despair! We’ll be back at it in October!
There has been some confusion about the nature of the internet singles. Just to clear things up, the reason that we’ve called them “internet singles” is because they are single, distinct songs that are released via “the internet(s).” We currently have no current plans to release the “internet singles” on any form of physical media (cd, vinyl, cassette tape, 8-track, etc.), so download away, or get your friends to burn you a copy if you hate downloads. (Also to clarify, In The Impossible Tension, someday may be released on physical media, but don’t hold your breath).
Our latest full-length album, Short Films on Self-Control has been racking up some good reviews lately. Go here to read some snippets from those reviews.
Three cheers for summer vacation!

T-Minus 3 days and counting…
…until the release of our next song!
This Thursday, May 15th, we will be releasing the yet-to-be-named second track of the In The Impossible Tension EP.
According to Steve, this second track has been very exciting to record and is “much more accessible than ‘Arsonist’s Blues.’” He has refrained from commenting more on the track than saying that it is “more accessible.”
So check the MUSIC page on Thursday (5/15) to hear what Steve means by “accessible.”
In other news, we finished up a majority of the writing of July’s Internet Single. We were going to record the rest of June’s Single, “She Wrote A Letter,” but Steve & Joe mistakenly forgot to pack the recording equipment! Thankfully, May is a “5 weekend” month, so we’ve still got time to complete the recording. These next two Internet Singles will be Summer Hits!
In other other news, we’ve decided to revamp the naming and ID3 tag structure on our Internet Singles, so if you care enough to have the singles the way we intended them, download or re-download them (for free, or pay again if you want!). Go! Do It!

P.S. Did you check out the new internet single? Did you read Steve’s blog post?

Happy Tax Day (U.S.), here’s some new music!

Some tracks from this EP will be available as our 15th-of-the-month download. “Arsonist’s Blues” is the first fruits of this Synth-Folk EP.
The track costs $1, but you can pay more if you feel so inclined. Mosey on over to the MUSIC page to purchase it! And listen to it on the player (above left)!
Let us know what you think!

More music than you can handle!
We have a lot going on behind the scenes that we’d like to tell you about. Read on to find out what’s (been) happening.
Internet Singles
As most of you probably know, we released our first of many “Internet Singles” on April 1st. In addition to the full band singles that are released on the 1st of each month, we will be offering some material that Steve & Joe have been working on in their spare time in the Dirty Jerz. These extra singles will be released on the 15th of each month. The first of these “extra” singles is titled, “Arsonist’s Blues,” and will be available on April 15th.
Speaking of the “Internet Singles,” we will be recording the May 1st single this coming weekend, we hope to post pictures shortly after we recover from the weekend blitz.
Upcoming Shows
We have several shows coming up at the end of April. Visit the SHOWS page to see if we’ll be playing in your area. Or tell your friends who live in those areas that we’re coming and they should definitely catch our show(s).
Radio Airplay
We are getting ready to mail out a bunch of CDs to radio stations. We’d love to know which independent or college radio stations in your area we should send to. If you have any suggestions, post a comment, or shoot us an email (info{at}goodnightstates.com) to let us know!
It’s all too much…
Is this all getting to be too much to keep up with? You should visit our RSS page to discover the greatness of RSS feeds. There is a link to a great video all about how RSS works and there are also links to all of the RSS feeds that we offer for www.goodnightstates.com.
Stop back soon and often!
