Google is this band’s weapon of choice. For example, if it weren’t for Gmail’s ability to track email ‘conversations’ and the fact that all 5 members have Gmail accounts, we would probably have a lot more interpersonal issues than we do right now. We also utilize the calendar for scheduling (conflicts) and we share nice spreadsheets of where we want to send press releases to, so that everyone can contribute. It really is a life-saver.

In addition to the aforementioned services that The Google offers, we utilize one other secret, secret weapon: Google Analytics. With Google Analytics, you are able to track hits and other stats for your website. One of my favorite features lets you see the search strings that people used that lead them to your site.

So, to blatantly steal and idea from PittGirl and Land of Yajeev, I’m going to list my top 5 search strings to date (by number of hits). Here they are…

5. naked torsos

I often name the photos that we upload by the subject material or something distinctive about the photos. I guess that I should be a little more discerning about these names. I hope that whoever was looking for ‘naked torsos’ found something on our site that was a bit more wholesome and fulfilling.

4. is tanning good for you

I can’t even find what the heck the content was that brought someone to our site with that search string! The best I can figure out is that Joe’s last name and that our name is Good Night, States are the reasons for this hit.

3. hooka bar, omaha, ne

WTF!? Again, I can’t find the page that lead this person to our site, but my guess is that it was Joe’s post about sleeping on the floor of Chronic Town after our Roustabout! show in January. Jeez, people!

2. Piano Pillow

Was someone hoping to find a solution for the stiff neck & back that their piano has been waking up with?

This is the doozy! This search string blows all of the others out of the water in terms of popularity. Again, a case where I should’ve used more discretion when choosing titles for our photos! What are people looking for on the internets!?!? Dirty, Dirty.

In conclusion, maybe it would be a good thing to title photos or blog posts with explicit things having to do with sex and nakedness. It would probably bring us a lot more traffic, but it would probably knock us down a few rungs on the integrity ladder. And think of those people who were searching for something steamy and got this.
