I just was informed that The Afterthoughts Podcast is using “Sometimes I See You On The Lawn” as their theme song.  Very cool.  To be honest, I’m not sure how they found out about us, but they have a link to our Sixty One page, so that’s my hunch!

Are you a regular reader of the GN,S blog?  Are you only an occasional reader of the GN,S blog?  Perhaps you should consider using our RSS feed - read it in Google Reader, Gmail, Firefox RSS Reader Add-On, etc.  I don’t know what took me so long, but I recently started using Google Reader - it’s pretty spectacular.

Last week we played an amazing show with Anathallo.  To be honest, I have never been impressed with their recordings, but if there ever was a band you should see live, this is it.  Their live show is ridiculously good, and the recordings mean a lot more to me after seeing them live.  My friend’s Gchat status said “I miss Anathallo very much” for days after the concert.  If you follow the Good Night, States Twitter account, you definitely want to find the tweet that has my “Where the Wild Things Are” t-shirt and Jere’s “Where the Wild Things Are” tattoo.  That encounter with Jeremiah was probably one of the best experiences of my life - not top 10, but at least top 100, right (no offense Jeremiah!)?

We also were at the Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, Pa listening to panelists, and hanging out with sweet bands.  Here’s to new and old friends - The Jealousy Curve, The Duhks, Perkasie, Hugo, and many more!  Shout out to Eastern University and Kris for hosting us!  Thanks for being there, Hannah, as well as to Jeff and crew (now I know what “‘Nola” stands for, and I’ve since looked it up on Google Maps to know where it is). Shout out to Joe at WFNM at Franklin and Marshall College for having us on the live show - perhaps we’ll release that online here someday…?  Thanks for giving us a place to sleep in Lancaster, M & H & K!

We were also putting some finishing touches on a song we’re recording at Singleton Studios in Charlottesville, VA this upcoming weekend, which we’re pretty stoked about.

This morning, I had my first overseas Skype video conference with Andrew Dubber.  If you’re in a band, you can’t afford to not spend time becoming familiar with his website, New Music Strategies.  RSS feed the hell out of that thing.  Make sure you download the free e-book, “20 Things You Must Know About Music Online“, which basically should be a bible for your indie band’s mentality.

If you’re in a band and you don’t love “20 Things”, then I (Dan) 1) don’t understand you or 2) your band is just too huge and is blowing up everywhere and we can’t possibly be friends.

Good Night, States spent a Saturday morning at the Children’s Museum in February, in their cozy underground radio studio with the Saturday Light Brigade crew, who have been broadcasting quality public radio for kids and adults since 1978. Our lineup included Steve on acoustic, Joe on electric, Dan on hand percussion, and Megan on the studio’s spinet piano. Trevor played the crucial role of riding in the tow truck to the mechanic, as the muffler fell clean off a quarter mile away from the show. Thankfully the heaviest instrument was on wheels!

We had a great show and were treated so well by hosts Larry and Rikki, as well as our friend Jeff, who was running sound. After our set, Joe and I blazed through the Children’s Museum - we smelled the barks of various trees, toured the original Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood set, and manipulated the color spectrum with various leftover containers. You need to take someone small and experience it for yourself.
